On Thursday, February 1, 2024, Vice President of Plus W Inc., Takashi Horiuchi, was invited by Kunio Toyama, Representative Director of the Shikoku IT Cooperative, to speak at the 21st General Meeting of the Cooperative under the theme ‘Current Utilization of Pakistani IT Talent.’

At the beginning of the lecture, Horiuchi introduced Plus W’s business activities, followed by an overview of Pakistan, including the current state of the ICT industry. He also explained the framework for accepting highly skilled Pakistani IT engineers into Japanese companies. While over 100 countries import Pakistani ICT products and services, with the majority being exported to the U.S. and other Western nations, he highlighted how the Pakistan Japan Centre for Mutual Cooperation (PJC), established by Plus W in 2022, has been actively working in the region. Thanks to these efforts, many skilled Pakistani IT engineers have already come to Japan, with successful placements in Japanese IT companies. He emphasized that there is a strong pool of IT professionals eager to work in Japan, many of whom Plus W has already connected with, making immediate matches with Japanese companies highly feasible.

Additionally, Morimoto, Senior Manager of the Human Resources Division and leader of Plus W’s Japanese Language and Culture Acquisition Program for Pakistani IT engineers, provided an update on the program’s progress, which has produced over 1,000 graduates.

He showcased self-introduction videos created by students as their final assignments, demonstrating their dedication and impressive fluency in Japanese. The audience expressed high expectations for these skilled IT professionals and engaged in positive discussions and inquiries about accepting them into Japanese companies.

Plus W is committed to establishing a coexistence model for integrating Pakistani IT engineers into the Shikoku region. This initiative not only addresses the local IT talent shortage but also contributes to the globalization of Shikoku-based companies and revitalization of regional communities. Moving forward, Plus W will continue to drive this initiative with strong dedication.

Since 2010, the Shikoku IT Cooperative has been building an IT network with IT-related businesses across the four prefectures of Shikoku. With the goal of revitalizing local industries, the Cooperative brings together technical expertise and networks, fostering collaboration. The general meetings, held quarterly, gather representatives from member companies to exchange business insights, share information, and discuss industry trends.
