Background of the participation

Since 2021, Plus W has collaborated with Shibuya Mirai Design to expand job opportunities through initiatives promoting inter-company human resource exchange. By joining the “Shibuya Good Manners Project,” Plus W seeks to support Shibuya Ward’s community-building efforts. Addressing issues like public drinking, smoking, and littering, the project involves both local Japanese and international residents and visitors. Plus W aims to engage foreign workers in Shibuya through English-language outreach, encouraging their active role in creating a safe, inclusive environment in Shibuya.

1. Engaging International Talent

Plus W encourages foreign IT talent and interns to participate in activities like trash clean-ups, collaborating with Shibuya Mirai Design and local companies to engage other foreign workers in Shibuya. Recently, Pakistani staff and the director of the Japan-Pakistan Talent Exchange Center in Islamabad joined a clean-up event.

2. Promoting Project ctivities Overseas

International staff share multi-language updates on Shibuya’s good manners initiatives, like Halloween etiquette, via social media. This outreach supports Shibuya’s safe and inclusive environment mission globally.

Comment from Ami Kato, Senior Manager and Shibuya Good Manners Project Representative

“Until now, we have collaborated with Shibuya Future Design to propose new ways of working from Shibuya through the utilization of freelance and part-time talents. In terms of social contribution, we have been active globally, working with the Pakistani NPO CIRCLE to promote social advancement for local youth through IT and Japanese language education. Currently, overseas talents, including those from Pakistan, are thriving in Japan, and we will participate in this activity with about ten overseas interns, primarily from countries in the Global South.”

Comment from Takiko Kumagai, PR Manager of Shibuya Future Design

“We have established a partnership with Plus W to promote matching for freelance and part-time workers, and we are pleased that they have joined the Good Manners Project. Not only do the employees participate in the monthly clean-up of Shibuya Center Street, but Plus W’s overseas talents also join in. We hope that Plus W will communicate the initiatives of the Shibuya Good Manners Project internationally, contributing to making Shibuya a safe and secure community.”
